After an absolute beatdown of a season finale against Clemson, the South Carolina Gamecocks look forward to an offseason that will allow Shane Beamer and company to begin crafting their first complete recruiting class. In addition to recruiting the transfer portal seems to be overflowing with talent as Lincoln Riley leaves Oklahoma in shambles. It’s time to start building some talent that will give us a physical advantage in every aspect of the game.
With Shane having a big connection in Oklahoma, it wouldn’t be crazy to think we could bring in a few of the Oklahoma players who have hit the portal. It seems as though one player from Oklahoma has all but committed to do just that. Austin Stogner is expected to commit to South Carolina and join the team soon. This big bodied tight end would be a big addition to the team and add depth at the TE spot. Here is some more information about Austin Stogner.
Where is Austin Stogner From?
Many fans are curious where Austin Stogner is from. Is there a connection to Columbia or South Carolina? The answer is no. His biggest connection to Columbia is Shane Beamer. Austin Stogner is from Plano, Texas and attended Prestonwood Christian High School. As a recruit Austin Stogner was rated as a 4-star TE and the number 3 TE in the 2019 recruiting class. He committed to Oklahoma in 2017 and joined the team in 2019.
How much eligibility does Austin Stogner have left?
A big question that fans have is “how many years of eligibility does Austin Stogner have left?” Austin Stogner completed three seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners meaning that he is a Junior in terms of eligibility. Due to COVID-19, the 2020 season did not count as a year of eligibility for players. This means that Austin Stogner will have two years of eligibility remaining and give the Gamecocks another great downfield target.
Did Austin Stogner Commit to South Carolina?
Austin Stogner plans to commit to the University of South Carolina. He should make an announcement soon.
Austin Stogner committing to South Carolina could start a snowball effect that will bring some other former Sooners to Columbia. I would personally love to see some more playmakers transfer to South Carolina to inject some life into the offense. I look forward to seeing what new faces we see in the coming months.
